Adult Vocational Qualifications - Licentiateship and Graduateship

1. There are many examples within the Norfolk and Suffolk Wing of staff who have made significant contributions during their time with the Air Training Corps, but who do not have any qualifications that recognise their achievements. CVQO, in conjunction with City and Guilds offer a progressive route to higher qualifications.

2. Licentiateship in Youth Leadership and Training (Level 4)

  • a. Available to candidates who have been involved with the Air Training Corps in the post of Squadron Warrant Officer and / or OC Squadron, for a minimum of 5 years.
  • b. The OC Squadron must have completed both their Officers' Initial Course and Senior Officers' Course. For the Warrant Officers, they must have completed the NCO Staff Initial Course.
  • c. Candidates undertaking the Licentiateship are required to write a 'Reflective Report' that illustrates the practical application of the knowledge and skills gained whilst attending qualifying courses.
  • d. The registration fee is £120, which should be sent with the application form to CVQO.

3. Graduateship in Youth Management and Training (Level 5)

  • a. Available to Wing Staff Officers who have attended the two Officers' courses at RAF Cranwell. The Wing Staff Officers must have been in post for a minimum of one year, and have been involved with the cadets for at least 12 years.
  • b. Candidates for this award are required to complete either a 10,000 word Thesis or write a Reflective Report supported by a portfolio of evidence, depending on their educational background. The cost of registration is £200.

4. Candidates should notify TG2 of their registration. Guidance notes are available to both Licentiateship and Graduateship candidates to assist them in the completion of their Reflective Report.

5. As an encouragement to gain these professionally recognised qualifications, the Wing has agreed to pay half the registration costs, following the successful completion of the award. Reimbursement should be sought by sending a copy of the award, together with a completed Wing Activity Claim Form to WHQ.
