Norfolk & Suffolk Wing 50th Anniversary Parade

On Sunday 3rd July more than 300 cadets and 50 adult volunteers descended on Bury St Edmunds to take part in a parade and service to mark the 50th Anniversary of the merger of Norfolk & Suffolk Wing ATC.
After a short practice, the representatives from 24 squadrons, led by the Glenmoriston Pipe Band, left the Abbey Gardens to march up Angel Hill and in to the grounds of St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
Taking the salute was Wing President, Air Commodore Jon Ford, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk Gareth Wilson, and our new Regional Commandant Group Captain Dave Boreham, along with other local dignitaries.
Sqn Ldr Kevin Green, who co-ordinated the event commented “After 3 long years, seeing the whole Wing together on a formal parade is fantastic. Those who took part did brilliantly and the parade wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the staff who helped look after everyone, and worked so hard to get everything set up”
Wing Commander Jason Allan added “We were very fortunate to be able to hold this service in such fine surroundings, and I would like to thank all of our special guests for joining us on this special occasion.”
