On the 5th February 1941 King George VI signed a royal warrant, officially forming the Air Training Corps.
Today the organisation, which includes the ATC and the CCF, has over 40,000 members between the ages of 12 and 20, across the UK and beyond. These young people are then supported by a dedicated team of Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers, who give up their time to be part of one of the best youth organisations in the country.
On Sunday a number of cadets celebrated the formation of the Corps by taking part in a parade at RAF Marham.
Led by Sqn Ldr Peter Howlett, over 80 cadets marched past Wg Cdr Gareth Prendergrast, OC Ops Wing who took the salute on behalf of the Station Commander.
Following the parade, a service was conducted by Deacon Jo Critchley from the RAF Marham Chaplaincy team who is also the Padre for 1018 (Downham Market) squadron which included readings from Cdt Cpl Richings, Cdt Cpl Cook and Flt Lt Hall who organised the parade.
Following the service, a selection of delicious cakes and refreshments were provided by CI Bridget Lawrence
