After a years forced break, Volunteers and guests of Norfolk and Suffolk Wing were once again able to meet to celebrate the achievements of individuals and squadrons after a turbulent 18 months.
The Annual Norfolk & Suffolk Wing guest night, held again at Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf and Country Club, saw over 100 guests gather for a three course meal, with entertainment being provided by Dereham Town Band. The evening was also an opportunity to dine out former OC Wing – Wing Commander David Miller who after 11 years in post, this year moved to a new position of Senior Staff Officer within Central & East region.
After joining the Wing as a cadet at 759 (Beccles) in 1975 , Wg Cdr Miller was then commissioned in 1981 moving up the ranks of Wing Staff Officer & Deputy OC Wing, before taking command of the Wing in 2010. During this time he was decorated with an MBE in 2016, received the Cadet Forces medal and 4 Clasps, an AOC 22 Group Commendation in 2005, and the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk Commendation in 2007. This summer he received a special commendation from the Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk for his work as OC Wing over the last 11 years.
During the evening Wg Cdr & Mrs Miller were presented with a number of gifts as a thank you for their commitment to the Wing – in particular a canvas print of Captain Scarlet which will surely be put up in pride of place in his office!

- CWO Zoe Webb – Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk Cadet Award
- Norfolk & Suffolk Wing Shooting Team – Regional Commandants Team Commendation
- Sqn Ldr Nick Castle – Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk Meritorious Award for Supporting Suffolk during Covid
